Join us for an interactive forum on integral human development in Catholic social teaching, looking back to 1967, and looking forward in Australia today, within the context of the new Social Justice Statement.

The interactive forum will consider the impact of Pope Paul VI’s 1967 encyclical Populorum Progressio (On the Development of People), which 50 years ago expanded Catholic social teaching on world development and the development of every person. These themes were reiterated in Pope John Paul II’s 1997 encyclical Sollicitudo rei socialis, and in Pope Benedict XVI’s 2009 Caritas in veritate which insisted on the critical importance of Populorum Progressio.
