Many people will be surprised to hear that Catholics owe a debt to the Salvation Army, which had a significant influence on the English Cardinal Manning, who helped shape Pope Leo XIII’s social encyclical, On the Condition of the Working Class. Bruce Duncan recalled this as he spoke on essential link between faith and social responsibility.
