The John Wallis Memorial Lecture 2018, sponsored by the John Wallis Foundation and the Australian Youth Climate Coalition

Sr Gail Worcelo, a Passionist Sister, is the co-founder (with the late Thomas Berry) of Green Mountain Monastery in Vermont USA, dedicated to the healing and protection of the Earth. For the last 18 years Gail has travelled the world, sharing the work of Thomas Berry, encouraging us to strive for an ecologically sustainable life.

“I urgently appeal, then, for a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. We need a conversation which includes everyone, since the environmental challenge we are undergoing, and its human roots, concern and affect us all.” Pope Francis in Laudato Si’.

These annual lectures are held in honour of Father John Corcoran Wallis, a Tasmanian priest, whose vision and spirit continue to inspire the work of the John Wallis Foundation and the Missionary Sisters of Service, the congregation he founded.
