World population: cause for alarm? by Bruce Duncan (Sydney: Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, 1995), pp. 36. Used with permission.
The debate over world population is one of the most important for the future of our planet. This paper examines the debate particularly in the light of the United Nations Conference on Population and Development at Cairo in 1994 and the Vatican’s response. It argues that the more alarmist fears of world overpopulation are exaggerated, but that the problem is real and needs urgent attention.
